Coimbatore: The City Police have planned to change the traffic pattern on Avanashi Road flyover by prohibiting two-wheelers over the flyover from March 1.
A release from the City Police Commissioner, K.C. Mahali, said that the objective behind the change in traffic pattern was to decongest the flyover and to ensure smooth flow of traffic. A decision to introduce this system of traffic was taken at the Road Safety-cum-Traffic Advisory meeting held recently.
Steps have been taken to spruce up the pass ways beneath the flyover.
After the change is introduced two-wheelers from Avanashi Road to Mill Road and vice-versa and those from Goods Shed to Brooke Bond Road and vice-versa would have to take the pass way beneath the flyover.
Parking of vehicles beneath the flyover have also been banned to keep the pathways free.
Motorists had been requested to co-operate with the police in enforcing the new traffic pattern in order to ensure free flow of traffic on Avanashi Road flyover and nearby areas.
