Coimbatore: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will hold a regional conference on dowry harassment in Coimbatore on January 11. According to a press release from from district secretary P.R. Natarajan the conference will be addressed by Party Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat and State secretary N. Varadarajan.
The party cadres have been carrying out a survey and collecting the staton incidents of dowry harassment, the findings of which will be presented at the conference.The conference is part of the party’s campaign against atrocities on women and such regional conferences are being held to make people sensitive towards the need to eliminate the evil of dowry.
The conference will attract participants from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Karur, the Nilgiris and Dindugul.
