Coimbatore: Travel Expo, a travel and tourism exhbition is being held at Suguna Kalyana Mandapam, Peelamedu Coimbatore from Jan 24th to Jan 26th. The event is organized by Banglore based Travel Media Networks.
The exhibition has about 54 participants from different parts of the India. While majority of the stalls are promoting different states of India , there are others promoting international destinations such as Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, etc. There are several exciting packages and discount travel is the offering. The stall from Gujarat showcased the arts and culture of the state along with the holiday destinations in the state. There are several stalls from Kerala promoting several places like Waynad, Lakkidi, an unexplored tourist spot in northern Malabar, etc. Some of the stalls are promoting short get away options like beautiful resorts in the middle of densely wooded landscapes, complete with tree houses and cave dwellings, Ayurvedic treatment centres and nature treks.
Also some prominant hotels from Coimbatore as well as other cities had their stalls promoting discounted stay. All the stalls provided some interesting brochures for the various destnations providing good basic info about the different destinations as well as the travel, accomodation and packages promotions. There was one particular interesting stall selling Hollywood DVDs and the stall owner had a very good (new)collection.
A similar exhibtion was held last year by Travel Media Networks in Coimbatore and as per Dileep Biswas, VP - Business Development, IITM it drew a crowd of around 11,000 people. He is looking forward to a bigger crowd this time. With the ongoing gloomy mood over recession and the global slowdown I would say a little travel and adventure is always welcome.
