Coimbatore: The drainage systems in Avinashi road have become a dumping place for waste choking the flow of drainage water and at times causing overflow of the drainage on the road. The stagnant water in the drainage has become a major breeding place for mosquitoes. The drainage systems are choked by wastes thrown by the public and the roadside mobile daba’s who litter their wastes in the drainage systems.
 
It is high time the corporation took some immediate steps to close the drainage systems by using cement slabs. NGO’s working for environmental issues and awareness should create more awareness about this.
