Coimbatore: The nine days weaponry training programme for police officers in the rank of Inspectors and Deputy Superintendents of Police in West Zone concluded recently with the Inspector-General of Police, West Zone, Pramod Kumar, giving away the overall best trophy and first three prizes to the officers.
The training was held on the Armed Reserve Grounds on Avinashi Road.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Coimbatore Range, P. Sivanandi and Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, N. Kannan took part in the valediction function.
The police in West Zone with the help of Tamil Nadu Commando School in Chennai organised the programme to impart training in handling modern weaponry such as assault rifles, AK 47, carbine and nine mm pistol to the officers.
The police officers were given firing practice at Madukkarai Firing Range
