Coimbatore: Mathew Sears, a high school mathematics teacher from North Carolina (US), is on a four month deputation to Kendriya Vidyalya at Sulur as a part of teacher exchange programme, sponsored by Ful Bright Scholarship. A teacher from Kendriya Vidyalya Sulur has gone to North Carolina as part of the same programme.
On Conversation to him I came to know that he is originally from St. Louis but settled in North Carolina and adopted teaching as a carrier since last 5 years. He has done his bachelors in Mathematics and Computers followed by Masters in Teaching.
He told me that “In the US, we teachers have liberty to choose the methodology to teach. So, when I deal with particular topic in maths, I gather material from books and internet. Preparation for class must be there to deliver the best to the students,” he adds smiling.
Finally when I asked him that what’s your experience to be here, Is there any different experience teaching in India? He told me smiling “No. there is hardly any difference. Teaching fills just the same. But, it is a great leaning experience, on the whole.”.
